I just completed creating this gorgeous custom necklace of multicolored Tahitian pearls, gold and garnets and couldn’t wait to share it!
Those of you that have known me for any length of time know that I am crazy about pearls. I think that’s because there are so many colors, shapes and sizes, and of course, that rich, lustrous sheen. (Hey, what’s not to love about pearls?)
In this case, I came across some truly remarkable, multicolored Tahitian pearls that inspired me with their varied colors, irregular shapes and intense luster. I wanted to make a long necklace that would be rich and beautiful, yet very contemporary as it swung around its owner’s neck. So I strung the pearls together with color-change garnet rondelles that actually do change color depending on the light they are in. I interspersed with hand-made 18k gold beads. The color change garnets – magnificent on their own — really set off the iridescence of the pearls.
This a beautiful piece. And at 36” long, it can be worn as a single strand or doubled around the neck for a completely different look. I have even designed it to be accented with an interchangeable clasp or pendant.
Striking, versatile and one-of-a-kind, this custom Tahitian pearl & garnet necklace is looking for a long slender neck to attract a little attention.
